I want to hear more about your projects

Taking part in literature can be many things, from reading or listening to stories, writing creatively, contributing to workshops, or enjoying visits by authors in schools, communities, and festivals. It’s integral to the culture of Wales, and before the COVID-19 pandemic there were over 150 local literature groups in Wales hosting workshops and events in their communities right across the nation.

We believe that everyone has the right to take part in and enjoy literature in all its forms, and we work to ensure better access across the country. We support activities by offering financial contributions, by working in partnership, and by creating a community of skilled facilitators. Below you will find examples of how we have delivered, supported, or facilitated projects through our participation work.

Literature Wales' Writer Commissions

This initiative was established to support freelance writers, and provide activity which could help tackle loneliness and isolation, or entertain, inspire and educate creative audiences, early career writers, children and participants across Wales.

Llên Pawb | Lit Reach

Lit Reach was a community project which offered creative and artistic opportunities through literature to reach the people who need us most with projects that truly meet their needs.

Our Literature for Well-being Funding Scheme offered financial support and training for writers and artists to create and deliver original community-based creative writing projects. Each project is devised by the writer/artist with a specific group in mind.

Literature for Well-being Funding Scheme 2019

Literature in the Community

Our Literature in the Community work takes place through working directly with partner organisations, Local Authorities, community groups, support services, writers, artists and practitioners to create tailor-made programmes and activities to respond to local needs.

Ar y Dibyn

The aim of this project is to offer a series of workshops for individuals who have personal experience of addiction, or who have supported others, to be held in a safe and supportive environment without judgement.
