Invitation for Expressions of Interest in Video Production
Invitation for Expressions of Interest in Video Production at Tŷ Newydd Writing Centre for a Digital Celebration of Writer Development Scheme

Background:

Representing Wales: Developing Writers of Colour was launched in April 2021 and marked an important step in Literature Wales’ efforts to transform the country’s literary culture by addressing historical and existing barriers within the sector.

The programme aims to create a literary culture that is truly reflective of Wales’ diverse communities and to establish a pipeline of diverse Welsh talent that will be recognised across the UK and beyond. The programme was relaunched in autumn 2021 and this time supporting writers from low-income backgrounds. The cohort selected to be part of the second round will begin the programme in April 2022.

The first round of the programme will come to an end in March 2022, and over the last year the writers have benefited from one-to-one mentoring; monthly workshops and talks; as well as opportunities to network, make new contacts and build relationships with other writers.

The scheme is run by Literature Wales, the national company for the development of literature and funded by the National Lottery through the Arts Council of Wales.

Further information can be found here:  Previous Rounds of Representing Wales – Literature Wales

Requirement:

We are looking for an individual or company to come to Tŷ Newydd Writing Centre in Llanystumdwy during a residential creative writing masterclass organised as part of the programme to provide video production and photography services.

The aim of the video is to celebrate the positive impact the programme has had on the cohort over the last year.

We expect the video production service to include, storyboarding, filming, audio, editing, motion graphics and subtitling (text and translations to be provided by LW).

Video Brief:

We would like one bilingual video, no longer than 4 minutes, subtitled in Welsh and English where relevant.

Please note: the majority of the writers will express themselves in English but some might wish to speak in Welsh.

The video will need to include informal group interviews with the writers as they share their experiences from the past year, alongside their professional and creative development.

The video will also need to include extracts of the writers’ reciting their creative work. This creative content is to be included as short snippets dotted throughout the finished video. If possible, we would like motion graphics to visually accentuate the recited pieces.

The video should end with information about the project and Literature Wales and our funder’s logos.

We ask that you attend a section of one of the creative writing workshops running over the weekend to take pictures of the cohort at work creating, writing, and discussing.
