I have lived in Torfaen in South Wales for over 30 years. I have loved poetry all my life but only wrote my first poem after my 70th birthday when I attended a creative writing class in the local adult learning programme.
I am a member of Newport Stanza affiliated to the Poetry Society, publishing poems in its first anthology Wire: Elemental Emergency (2023). I have also published in anthologies by Zero Dark Thirty Publishers (2024) and Poets at Barnabas (2024). I was shortlisted in the Allingham Festival Poetry Competition (2023) and received a Highly Commended place in the Poet of Pontypool competition 2022. Two poems were featured in These Pages Sing, Spring Edition, 2025.
I was delighted, excited and gobsmacked to be selected for the Literature Wales 2025-26 Representing Wales programme.
I am hard of hearing and my poems are often inspired by this lived experience together with membership of the Irish diaspora and my love of Wales.
