Biography

Born in Brymbo, a small village near Wrexham in North Wales, Siân Marlow moved to Reading in 2010, where she lives with her husband and son and their two big dogs. A Modern Languages graduate of St David’s University College in Lampeter, specialising in Swedish and German, Siân started her own small translation company, Midnight Sun Translations, as a way of indulging her passion for the written word. Siân holds a Master’s in Creative Writing with Distinction from the University of Reading and wrote her debut novel – described as ‘a compelling, undoubtedly exceptional piece of work’ – as part of this programme. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Creative Writing, also at the University of Reading, and is exploring Welsh landscapes, legend and identity as part of her research. Her short story ‘Echoes’ was shortlisted for the Rhys Davies Short Story Award in 2024 and appeared in the anthology ‘A Dictionary of Light’, published by Parthian Books.
