Biography

Simone was born in Tenby. She spent decades in England, (many addresses), before returning to Wales – Carmarthenshire in 2007. Her B.A. degree was in English & American Literature. She’s taught English & EFL in secondary & further education, & is qualified as a Speech & Drama teacher too. In business, she’s worked in marketing, sales & PR. She’s also developed her family hospitality business on a small organic farm and been a wedding planner for 12 years. Simone’s passionate about the environment…and stage as well as page. She’s published 9 books, mostly poetry, including ‘Bracing’ – her latest collection, but also memoir, journal/autobiography & children’s fiction. She’s working on a second memoir, a new poetry collection & a first novel. Simone has read on stage, in bookshops , schools & libraries, at festivals, in England, Ireland &, of course, Wales, on Radio 4 and Radio Wales, and has had poems commissioned by ITV Sport, galleries and theatre groups. Some of her work has been translated into Romanian. In 2024, she set up a new indie press to publish an eco-anthology about Afon Teifi – ‘Words on Troubled Waters’. She’s vegan. She believes in accessibility, communication and musicality, and abhors cliques and cronyism.
