Biography

Stephanie Ellis is a Wrexham-based writer of dark fiction and poetry. Her work includes folk horrors The Five Turns of the Wheel, Reborn, The Woodcutter, and Harrowfield, the post-apocalyptic body horror The Barricade, as well as novellas, Bottled, Paused and Rat-She. Her latest gothic horror, A Fragile Thing, has been nominated as a ‘Notable Work’ by the HWA’s mental health initiative. Her short stories appear in the collections The Reckoning, Devil Kin, and Darklings I and II and a variety of magazines and anthologies, some of which has featured in Ellen Datlow’s Best of Horror recommended reading longlists and in a Bram Stoker Award-nominated anthology. She is a Rhysling and Elgin Award nominated poet and has co-written poetry collections Foundlings (with Bram Stoker Award winner Cindy O’Quinn) and Mason Gorey and Lilith Rising (with Shane Douglas Keene). She has a preference for writing in the gothic, folk horror, historical horror and postapocalyptic subgenres but will happily try something new as seen in her alt history cosy crime, Twiggy Voo? In fact, she prefers to be known simply as a storyteller rather than be labelled in any way.
