Biography

Dewi Griffiths is a native Welsh speaker from the coast of Pembrokeshire in West Wales.
Pembrokeshire is the setting for many of the stories from the Ancient Celtic Myths written down a thousand years ago in The Mabinogion. This scenery, remoteness, mythology and the supernatural were strong early influences on Dewi.
Combined with a love of storytelling, photography and film making, Dewi built a career in feature film and high-end TV drama, working worldwide.
Dewi worked on four continents for such production companies as BBC, S4C, ITV, Sky, Merchant Ivory, & Full Moon.
As well as running these high end film and TV productions, Dewi also wrote scripts and made his own feature and short films, always tied to mythology, and in the horror or dark fantasy genres. Dewi runs Garland Stone Productions Ltd, which builds on his connections and experience, to produce horror films, TV and literature: contemporary stories grounded in folklore.

Dewi moved on to writing novels, always contemporary tales, based on mythology. Some novels are set in Wales, others in Ireland, England and Scandinavia. Most take place in his Borderland creative universe,
‘Old Flames’ and ‘Black Valley’ (co-writer John Washbourne) are available in paperback distributed by Books Council Wales and via the Garland Stone Publications website.
His most recent novel ‘Folk Devil’, is available on Amazon and Bookbaby, or through his website as e-books, as are titles written with John Washbourne including ‘Witch Sight’, ‘Blood Eagle’ and ‘Away Game’.
Sequels to ‘Old Flames’ and ‘Witch Sight’ are due for release during 2023.

Dewi was head hunted by senior staff at the American Film Institute and University of Southern California Film School to head up Producing at The Red Sea Institute of Cinematic Arts in Jordan, teaching award winning film makers from across the MENA region.
Today Dewi is Senior Lecturer in Film Producing at the Film and TV School Wales and he writes alongside these commitments.
