Biography

Renée Eshel is a 22 year old writer based in Cardiff who has recently graduated from Cambridge University (2022). Her writing has appeared in Screeve, Lunulae, Tipping the Scales Journal, Sentire, Dispatches, Blackbirds, and Bait Magazine. She has also had her own columns in Varsity Newspaper, Girl Talk and Symphony of Art Magazine. In addition to her poetry publications, she enjoys exploring other creative practices, such as her zine, ‘Rebirth’ exhibited at Queen’s College Art Festival, under the title ‘Lost But Not At Sea’ and later sold to international buyers on Etsy. She has performed nationally at open mic nights, helping to organise and create spaces that are reflective, safe and open. Her work focuses on transitional periods in her life, exploring the intersection of queerness with rites of passage, coming of age, her diary entries, evocations of the occult and semi-autobiographical experiences to create unnerving and rich writing. Alongside her poetry publications, she has also written award winning research, presented at Cardiff University Sociological department.
