Biography

My name is Mike Everley and I have been a freelance writer of poetry, short stories and articles for over 50 years.

I was born in the mining district of South East Wales, but have lived in North, Mid and South Wales. Following fifteen years in electrical engineering, I attended Coleg Harlech and Aberystwyth University obtaining a BA and MA in Philosophy. Later I completed a MPhil at the University of Leeds.

My articles have appeared in many specialist and general publications such as Popular Craft, Window on Wales and My Weekly. I have had poetry published in literary magazines such as Outposts, Cardiff Poet and Poetry Wales and short stories in numerous publications including the Anglo Welsh Review. While at Aberystwyth I jointly edited the university literary magazine Dragon. I have also written advertising features for amongst others the Cambrian News. For many years I acted as a tutor on creative writing courses run by The London School of Journalism and Writers News. I have also written many textbooks for RRC and the University of Portsmouth. I am now Programme Planner for the Swansea and District Writers’ Circle.

Before retirement I was a member of both the NUJ and the Society of Authors. I now write mainly for pleasure. Examples of my work can be seen on my website and on various social media platforms.
