Biography

Jude Brigley is a writer and educationalist from Maesteg in the Llynfi Valley. She was assistant head-teacher at Cardiff High School, Chief Examiner for Media Studies at the WJEC, and ultimately worked on innovative teaching practice and teacher development with the Central South Education Consortium. She has also worked with the Welsh Arts Council and Literature Wales.

From the Poetry Society, she received a “Poetry Trailblazer” award, and she was a performance poet in groups like Sinister Women and Poetry Unlimited. She is an experienced editor – e.g. the poetry anthologies Exchanges (Honno) and The Poet’s House (Pont) – as well as educational books – Investigating Media Studies (Hodder &Stoughton). She had a poetry chapbook, Labours (Thynks). She has worked in schools, providing poetry workshops for pupils.

Recent short stories and poems have appeared in magazines in the UK and USA, including The Blue Nib, Ink &Nebula, Aubade, The Lake, Otherwise Engaged, Affinity, Ariel Chart, Ghost City Press, Mojave Arts Review, Door is a Jar and Gyroscope. Her work has appeared in anthologies such as Where the birds sing our name, Baby Boomers and Music, and Wanderlust. She edited and contributed to Baby Boomers:growing up in the LLynfi Valley.
