Biography

Rachel Carney is a poet, creative writing tutor, literary critic and book blogger. Her debut collection ‘Octopus Mind’ will be published by Seren Books in July 2023, focusing around themes of perception, neurodiversity and the complexities of the human mind. She currently teaches on the undergraduate creative writing course at Cardiff University, where she is also a PhD student. Her research examines the use of creative writing as a tool for visitor engagement in art museums, and she has extensive experience of running interactive workshops and events for all ages. Her poems, reviews and articles have been published in several magazines including Poetry Wales, Anthropocene, Under the Radar, Wales Arts Review, Acumen, the New Welsh Review, and Envoi. She won the Pre-Raphaelite Poetry Society Competition in 2021, and has been placed highly in several other competitions. One of her poems was nominated for the Forward Prize.
