Biography

Catrin Kean was awarded a place on the Hay Festival Writers at Work scheme for emerging writers from 2016-18. Her short stories have been published in Riptide Journal, Bridge House Anthology, The Ghastling and Syncopation Journal.. Her debut novel, SALT, based on the story of her great-grandparents,, won the Rhys Davies Trust Fiction Award, the People’s Choice Award, and the overall Wales Book of the Year award in 2021. Her second novel, LACE – a sequel to SALT – is due to be released in July 2024, published by Honno. She is also currently developing a feature film script, ‘THE CALL,’ with Vicarious Productions/Ffilm Cymru. She lives in the Garw Valley with her partner and three ridgeback dogs and works as an Associate Lecturer in Screenwriting at Bath Spa University, as a one-to-one Teaching Assistant with children with additional needs in Bridgend, as well as running Creative Writing workshops.
