Biography

Angela Graham is a Welsh-speaking writer and film-maker from Belfast. Her short story collection A City Burning was published by Seren Books in October 2020, supported by a Writer’s Bursary from Literature Wales. Her poetry collection, ‘Sanctuary: There Must Be Somewhere’ https://www.serenbooks.com/book/sanctuary-there-must-be-somewhere/ was published by Seren Books in 2022 and supported by a Writer’s Award from the Arts Council of Northern Ireland. She has a novel-in-progress on the politics of language in contemporary Northern Ireland and a prose/poetry book on Place and Displacement.

Her poetry collection, All Of Us Here, poems of political and personal relationships, is out on submission and also a poetry collection, ‘Star’, on the theme of the Christmas Season.
She won First Prize for Poetry in the inaugural Linen Hall Ulster-Scots Writing Competition 2021 and is considered among the foremost contemporary writers in Ulster-Scots.

Her poetry has appeared in The North, The Honest Ulsterman, Poetry Wales, The Works, The Ogham Stone, The Open Ear, Infinite Rust, The Bangor Literary Journal, Black Bough Poetry (Silver Branch Poet of the Month January 2021), The Interpreter’s House, CAP 2020 Anthology, The Lonely Crowd, The Stony Thursday Book and the Northern Ireland section of the Places of Poetry anthology and many other anthologies, such as Parthian Books’ The Oldest Music 2022 and ‘Romance’ Options’ and ‘Local Wonders’, Dedalus Press; ‘Words From The Brink’ and ‘A470’ from Arachne Press.
