Neil Kingsnorth lives and works in Pembrokeshire where he writes and co-runs a nature-based social enterprise and a heritage fruit tree nursery. Much of his time is spent working with community groups or with trees. He has spent most of his life so far working in campaigning and community groups, collaborating with others for nature recovery and community resilience. His words are shaped by this history, and a deep and grounded passion for the living world.
In his first book, ‘Finding the Ape’, Neil searches for a way out of the ecological mess we are in. Drawing on insights from Indigenous cultures and contemporary thinkers, he explores a path rooted in the reconnection of local community and local ecology. He journeys through his local landscape of West Wales, weaving personal encounters with people, projects and non-human kin who are already living differently. Through intimate stories of land, ecology and community, he uncovers quiet, grounded sources of resilience and hope.
