Biography

I’m a children’s author, living in Cardiff, where I write fast-paced, imaginative fantasy stories for readers aged 7+. My books include The Train to Impossible Places (shortlisted for the Waterstones Children’s Book Award, the Branford Boase Award and selected for the Summer Reading Challenge); The Beanstalk Murder (shortlisted for the Edgar Allen Poe Award by the Mystery Writers of America) and The Big Bad Wolf Murder.

Originally from Newport, I was raised on a diet of Greek mythology, ghost stories and Doctor Who. I’ve had all sorts of jobs over the years, from lifeguard to roller coaster operator, but it’s always been my life’s ambition to tell stories for a living.

I also love helping new generations to tell their own stories, and I visit schools across the UK to deliver assemblies and writing workshops.
