Biography

A. Sjoberg is an independent psychological horror author from Swansea, Wales. Writing under a pen name, she has quickly established herself as an emerging voice in psychological horror, creating stories that linger long after the final page. Rather than relying on supernatural creatures or graphic violence, her fiction explores obsession, paranoia, grief, memory and the unsettling reality that ordinary people are often capable of extraordinary darkness. Her aim has always been to leave readers questioning not what they have read, but what they would do if they found themselves in the same situation.

Her writing journey began in 2025 after her partner encouraged her to use writing as a creative outlet. What started as a single idea soon became a passion, leading her to publish her first stories online before independently releasing her debut collection, This Isn’t Unusual. Within a year, the collection had expanded into paperback, hardback, Kindle and audiobook editions, all produced independently while she continued working full-time. Every stage of the process, from editing and formatting to photography, branding and marketing, has been managed by A. Sjoberg herself, allowing her complete creative control over her work.

Inspired by true crime, psychology and the complexities of human behaviour, A. Sjoberg is fascinated by the decisions people make when faced with impossible situations. She enjoys exploring how fear alters judgement and how quickly the familiar can become deeply unsettling. Rather than offering easy answers, her stories encourage readers to sit with uncertainty, discomfort and the lingering feeling that something isn’t quite right. If a story leaves someone staring at the wall for a few minutes after finishing it, replaying every detail in their mind, she considers it a success.

Alongside building a growing online community across Instagram, TikTok and Substack, A. Sjoberg has embraced grassroots marketing, promoting her work throughout Swansea by collaborating with independent businesses, distributing bookmarks and connecting directly with readers. She believes some of the most meaningful moments in publishing come not from sales figures but from genuine conversations with readers who have been affected by her work. Those personal connections continue to shape her writing journey and inspire future projects.

Writing under a pen name allows A. Sjoberg to explore deeply personal and often disturbing ideas while keeping the focus firmly
