Nia Morais is a writer, playwright and poet from Cardiff, Wales. She writes bilingually for both children and adults. Nia was the 2023-2025 Bardd Plant Cymru (Welsh-language Children’s Laureate). She is the author of Welsh Wonders: Betty, The Determined Life of Betty Campbell (Llyfrau Broga Books, 2023). Her first full play, Imrie, was staged with the Sherman Theatre and Cwmni Fran Wen in 2023. She is the editor of Welsh women’s poetry anthology, O Ffrwyth y Gangen Hon, with Cyhoeddiadau Barddas, published March 2025. Her debut Welsh poetry collection, Yn y Freuddwyd (Cyhoeddiadau Barddas), was published in spring 2026.
Nia works as a freelance author and translator. She is also a facilitator of creative writing workshops in both Welsh and English for schools and community groups. Nia leads poetry and short fiction workshops for children and adults.
