Biography

Jemma L King is the winner of the Terry Hetherington Young Welsh Writer of the Year Award and was shortlisted for the Dylan Thomas Prize, the Wales Book of the Year Prize, and The Sundress Prize for her debut collection, The Shape of a Forest (Parthian). She was also awarded the Cambrian Mountains First Prize 2024 for her poem The Valley and has received a Scritture Giovani fellowship.

Her third solo collection, Moon Base One, was published by Parthian in October 2025. Jemma has read her work internationally, including at the March Hare Festival in Canada and the Berlin Literature Festival. Her poems have appeared in and been reviewed by Mslexia, Acumen, Littoral, and Seaside Gothic, and have been translated into 13 languages.

She lives in mid-Wales with her husband, toddler, new-born, and dog.
