Richard Gwyn grew up in south Wales, and lived for many years in Greece and Spain. He is the author of four collections of poetry, three novels, and a life story of the artist J.D. Innes: Some Miraculous Promised Land. A memoir,The Vagabond’s Breakfast, won Wales Book of the Year for nonfiction in 2012. He has translated poetry and short fiction by many Latin American writers, including Andrés Neuman, Dario Jaramillo and Fabio Morábito. His travels in Latin America form the subject of a second memoir, Ambassador of Nowhere. He writes a Substack blog: Raids on the Underworld.
