Submissions for Wales Book of the Year 2027 Now Open

The submission window is now open for Wales Book of the Year 2027, an annual celebration of outstanding literature from Wales across many genres in both English and Welsh.  

In both languages, there are four categories – Poetry, Fiction, Creative Non-fiction and Children & Young People, with one of the four category winners announced as the Overall Winner, and claiming the title Wales Book of the Year.  

There are 12 awards in total, with a collective prize fund of £14,000. In both Welsh and English, four category winners will be selected, alongside a People’s Choice Award and the Wales Book of the Year Overall Winner. 

The shortlist, which will comprise of three books in each category, will be announced next spring, with the winners of Wales Book of the Year 2027 announced during a live ceremony in the summer.  

Publishers and self-published authors are invited to review the Eligibility Criteria and submit eligible books published during 1 January – 31 December 2026.  

The deadline for submissions is Tuesday 24 November 2026.
