The Wales Book of the Year Award is an annual prize celebrating outstanding literary talent from Wales across a variety of genres and in both English and Welsh. The judges will select four category winners in each language – Poetry, Fiction, Creative Non-fiction and Children & Young People. An overall winner will also be selected for each language, who will claim the title of Wales Book of the Year 2022. There are 12 awards in total, including the People’s Choice awards.

The shortlists and winners will once again be announced in partnership with BBC Cymru Wales. A series of announcements will be made on BBC Radio Wales’ The Arts Show and BBC Radio Cymru’s Stiwdio over the summer. Click here for all the key dates.

The Wales Book of the Year Award is an essential part of Literature Wales’ programme of activity. The prizes help fulfil our aim of celebrating and representing Wales’ writers, heritage and rich literary culture. The prize provides an invaluable platform for both emerging and established writers.
