Join us for a very special evening in the company of Russell T Davies, the award-winning creator of some of Britain’s most influential TV dramas. In his new memoir, The Queerest of Folk: A life in television, Russell takes us on a whistle-stop tour through a dazzling 40-year career, from his early days working on children’s shows and soaps through to the giddy heights of relaunching Doctor Who and bringing queer relationships onto the mainstream screen.

The Queerest of Folk is an outspoken and passionate manifesto for British TV and celebrates the unique power it has to draw us together in an increasingly fragmented world. Expect an evening full of behind-the-scenes anecdotes and new revelations as Britain’s foremost TV writer and showrunner takes us into the rooms where it all happened; from the spark of an idea and the day-to-day business of meetings, to the creative arguments and the scenes that changed television forever.

Russell T Davies is one of the UK’s foremost writers of television drama, creating groundbreaking shows such as Queer As Folk, Bob & Rose, Casanova, Cucumber, The Second Coming, A Very English Scandal, Torchwood, It’s A Sin and most recently Tip Toe, starring Alan Cumming and David Morrissey. He has been Head Writer and Executive Producer of Doctor Who since it returned to the BBC in 2005 and has written many of the new series’ most memorable episodes. He was awarded an OBE in 2008 for services to drama. He divides his time between Cardiff and Manchester.
