We’re back for a special July session at g39 exploring resistance through film and performance.

Kicking off at 3pm, we will have performances from Zain Amir, Hanan, Durre & Sadia Pineda Hameed, followed by a black out poetry exercise and our lively open mic. There will be a chance to explore the g39 library and Rumblestrip exhibition with tea & coffee, including a screening of Emmanuel Almborg’s film following the open mic which explores the Welsh Rebecca Riots.

FEATURED ARTISTS: Zain Amir & performances by Durre, Hanan & Sadia from their National Museum of Wales collaboration.

Rumblestrip brings together works by six artists that carry a sense that something is not going right, that there are signs we should be heeding. They find the differences between subsequence and consequence, a link made between things happened or happening and things yet to come. They pull together precedent and prediction, the unreachable past and an uncertain future, pointing to the signs and signals that things are about to change, there are other paths than the ones we are currently treading.

Emanuel Almborg has made a parallel between two different points in history and location – documenting a youth theatre project that deals with the Rebecca Riots in Wales and the London riots of 2011 to trace patterns in repression and revolt.

There are limited parking spaces available on a first come first serve basis, as well as on-street parking on City Road.

Free entry – don’t miss this exciting special event!
