Join us for this Welsh-language session focusing on the importance of personal well-being within the writing process. The speakers will offer insights into how they navigate a career in writing and deal with the pressures of deadlines, rejections, and writers’ block.

Meet the speakers: 

Mari Elen

Mari Elen is a writer, performer, practitioner, theatre maker and founder of award-winning podcast, Gwrachod Heddiw. Originally from Harlech, Gwynedd she graduated from the University of South Wales in 2015 and has worked with numerous theatre companies since. She predominantly writes about female characters and female issues in my work and enjoys exploring the concept of “Welshness”.  

Caryl Bryn

Caryl Bryn is a Welsh poet and writer. She graduated with a BA from Bangor University’s School of Welsh in 2017 and graduated with an MA from the same School in 2020. She was Poet of the Month for BBC Radio Cymru in April 2019, and in the same year she came third in the Crown competition in the Urdd Eisteddfod. Her work as been published in Barddas and Y Stamp among other publications. She won the Poetry category in Wales Book of the Year awards in 2020 with her first volume of poetry, Hwn ydy’r llais, tybad? (‘Is this the voice’?) (Cyhoeddiadau’r Stamp, 2019). She also currently works as a Digital Content Producer with Tinopolis and writes for both Hansh and S4C. She has recently scripted and acted in a pilot comedy series ‘Iawn Mêt?’ which will air soon. 

Dewi Prysor

Dewi Prysor is a native of Cwm Prysor near Trawsfynydd in north-west Wales. He lives in Llan Ffestiniog with his wife Rhian and their children. He is a stonemason, a poet, a composer, and author. His three earlier novels, Brithyll, Madarch and Crawia (all published by Y Lolfa) form a trilogy. His fourth, Lladd Duw (Killing God; Y Lolfa, 2010), was shortlisted for Wales Book of the Year 2011, and won the Golwg 360 People’s Choice Award. He recently published a new book, 100 Cymru: Y Mynyddoedd a Fi (Y Lolfa, 2021) recounting his time hiking Wales’ top 100 peaks.
