Join Dead [Women] Poets Society for an evening of resurrecting dead women poets online. This time we’ll be hosting two fabulous (living) poets: Momtaza Mehri and Hannah Hodgson. They’ll be speaking about two women poets, May Ayim and Julia Darling, thinking about their life and legacy, and sharing their own new creative response to their work. This is not a poetry event for poetry fans only – anyone who’s interested in communing with our literary mothers is welcome.

The main event will be accompanied as ever by our popular Dead [Women] Poets Society Open-Mic, for which we welcome poets and performers of all and no genders to the (virtual) stage! Our only rule: for every poem of your own, you should also read/perform one by a dead woman or non-binary poet. When you get your ticket, just indicate that you want to sign up and we will confirm whether you have a spot or not by Sunday 4 April. **Please note the open mic slots have now been filled! You should have had an email from us on 5 April – get in touch if you haven’t heard.**

Normally, tickets to our events are £5, but we know online events aren’t quite the same. So we’re offering £1 tickets, but the option is there if you’re able and would like to pay £5 – it’d help us keep doing what we’re doing. And if the £1 is really a barrier, use the code Concession at checkout for a free ticket. We’re also offering free UK shipping on our merch as optional add-ons, just as if you were at a stall in the interval leafing through our wares! **NEW!** Get your hands on our new zine RESISTANCE – all the profits will go to Sisters Uncut. More info here.

This event was intended to take place in Newcastle, at the Star and Shadow Cinema. We’re working extra hard to reach audiences in the North East with this event – please share with anyone you think might be interested, and get in touch if you can help us to reach people.

We’ll be doing our best to get captions and share transcripts in advance but please bear with us as we ready ourselves for our first online séance – and of course let us know any other access requirements at

See you in the airwaves! #JoinTheSéance
