Company of Words is teaming up with Sherman 5 for this in person literary Open Mic featuring guest the legendary Peter Finch, hosted by artist Alix Edwards. Suitable for over 15s.
Share your poems, monologues, short scripts and prose in a warm, welcoming environment in the fabulous setting of the Sherman foyer, catch up with friends over a beer or coffee and get creative inspiration from our guest poets. All welcome! whether you are an experienced performer, new to creative writing or just want to listen!
Peter Finch is a poet, author and critic who lives in Cardiff. He is author of the hugely popular Real Cardiff books, published by Seren and series editor for the ‘Real’ series. As a poet, Finch’s astounding career stretches over fifty years, his two-volume Collected Poems (Seren, 2022) gathers together work from across this time, merging poems from early publications with those in his more recent collections. Peter is also the author of The Roots of Rock, from Cardiff to Mississippi and Back, which charts the evolution of rock and popular music from 1950s Cardiff Suburbia to modern day America and beyond. In 2019 Seren published Walking Cardiff, a series of walks around the Welsh capital illustrated with photographs by John Briggs. A companion volume Walking the Valleys was published in November 2022.

Alix Edwards is a Cardiff based multi-platform writer and artist. She founded Company of Words in 2018 to encourage people to enjoy and share spoken word. Her work has been exhibited in UK, Europe & USA and she is part of the 2022-23 writer’s Cohort for Representing Wales, Literature Wales
