An evening with Sam Robinson and Delyth Jenkins
The Dylan Thomas ‘Summer Soirées’ are a series of evening literary events co-organised by write4word and the School of English and Creative Writing at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David. The events are supported by Literature Wales and run in parallel with the Dylan Thomas International Summer School. This is a residential creative writing programme for American MFA students directed by writers Pamela Petro and Dominic Williams. All events are free entry and open to the public and showcase some of Wales finest professional writers, many with international profiles, in a diverse range of genres. The ambition is to present these writers in informal intimate settings to both an international and an often-isolated rural local audience.
Sam Robinson is a shepherd and poet living in Bro Ddyfi. He also makes cider and plays the bodhrán.
Delyth Jenkins plays the Celtic harp. She started her career with the Swansea-based folk band Cromlech, and then went on to form the pioneering instrumental trio Aberjaber. She plays in a duo with her daughter Angharad Jenkins, and together they are known affectionately as DnA. With many albums to her name, both as a member of various groups and as a soloist, she has toured extensively in Britain, Europe and America. She has also worked as a composer for various theatre companies, and has collaborated with story-tellers and poets. In 2019 she published a book called That Would be Telyn, which recounts her remarkable 186 mile walk along the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, taking her small harp with her and giving a series of impromptu pathside concerts to walkers along the way
