A 5 day poetry writing course. Details:

What are the specifics and devices of language that successfully furnish the room or rooms of a poem? How do we walk into and experience its space – the colours, the light from its windows, and what we might encounter in its dark recesses? As readers, what makes us want to stay?

Through a wide range of stimulating writing exercises, discussions and close reading of a wonderful selection of contemporary poems, we’ll consider these questions and more. We’ll cover tips on editing, the mechanics, lyricism and music of a poem, and how it can be crafted to reach the heart of a reader. Be you a fledgling poet, or already well on the wing, leave the week inspired, with budding new drafts and fresh ideas to make your poems fly.

Tutors: Vanessa Lampert & Vicky Morris
