Praise for ‘won in the seventh’
“The range is great and the achievement absolutely solid. .. you [Fisk] hit the target and do it often.”
Peter Finch
The title of this collection represents positivity. It was inspired by a tiktok video featuring Tyson Fury sent to Nick by a friend and fellow Cardiff City Fan while he was in Hafan y Coed hospital, Cardiff. Tyson Fury, who himself battled mental health issues to return and become the heavy weight champion is a hero of Nick’s. In his second fight versus Deontay Wilder, Fury won in the seventh round, scoring Nick a nice little earner of £200 from a free £5 bet. The number seven is also of course a lucky number and often considered to be God’s own number.
Fisk describes his own poetry as “not as cheap as Tesco Value but not as pretentious as Tesco Finest”. He has flair for performance and slam poetry and was a finalist in the John Tripp Award for Spoken Poetry in 2009. He was also one of four poets to represent Wales in the first ever tri-nations poetry slam in 2006, where he helped Wales come second
