“Poetry is an investigation, not an expression, of what you know” – Mark Doty

Through workshops, discussions, performances and more, this course will focus on how we can expand the scope of our writing. Using familiar themes and instances from our own lives we will look at what happens when we blur the line between autobiography and fiction. What new stories might emerge if we slip on a new identity – and can we use language to change our reality? Can word-games help us develop new ways of exploring our thoughts, creating new forms of poetry? This week’s plethora of playful and innovative techniques will take you on new and original journeys with your poetry. You will leave with new, surprising poems, and the energy to write more.
