Join us for the Wales launch of Thomas Stewart’s second poetry pamphlet Based on a True Story. Thomas will be joined by guest poets Matthew Haigh, Christina Thatcher, David Hanlon and Rhys Shanahan.

Taking his cue from pop culture titans and classics – Death Becomes Her, First Wives Club, Friends to name a few – Thomas Stewart writes poems that look at the complexities of modern queer lives and how cinema and TV can help heal, empower or, in some cases, shame. Based on a True Story also include Stewart’s Grindr poems, which take a nuanced look at sex in the modern transactional age.

Thomas Stewart (he/him) is a Welsh writer, a 2021 New Writers Award recipient and the author of two poetry pamphlets: Based on a True Story (fourteen poems, 2022) and empire of dirt (Red Squirrel Press, 2019), a Poetry Book Society selection. His work has been published in Poetry Wales, Butcher’s Dog, Best Scottish Poems 2019 and The Stockholm Review of Literature, among others. Twitter: @ThomasStewart08
