Poets Jeremy Dixon and George Sandifer-Smith bring their new collections to Cardiff Central Library Hub on Thursday 13th October.

A Voice Coming From Then (Category Winner, Wales Book of The Year 2022) is a powerful and moving collection that starts with Jeremy Dixon’s teenage suicide attempt but moves on to chart the poet’s recovery and to encompass themes of bullying, queerphobia, acceptance and support. It also includes unexpected typography, collage, humour, magic, discotheques and frequent appearances from the Victorian demon, Spring-heeled Jack.

“A work of powerful vulnerability and queer resilience, A Voice Coming from Then holds difficult material with tenderness, precision and formal playfulness.” – Caleb Parkin

Nights Travel At The Right Speed is the debut poetry collection from Welsh poet George Sandifer-Smith. Seeking to explore smaller moments through spaces and objects, this collection shines a light on the art of recollection, how voices change with age, and the seemingly-galactic scope of the single instance – the crackle of tape, the glimpse of Mars through a skylight, the roaring eardrum after a rock & roll concert.
“A hauntingly elegiac collection but one shot through with humour and twists of absurdism.” – Katherine Stansfield
