Q: Why do you write?
A: In the film the Red shoes the ballerina is asked why she dances – and she replies ‘Because I must!’… …I was the fifth child in the family and spent my childhood in a world of adults and older siblings in which my voice was not really heard so I began listening to myself and making up stories.
