Join Lesley Parr for a digital workshop exploring how to create memorable characters for children’s literature. In this short workshop, we’ll look at the important elements of creating characters that readers will want to spend time with. Whatever your chosen genre, the focus will be on authenticity – how to make your characters feel real to the reader – in the things they do, the way they speak and how they drive the story. The workshop will last an hour, but time has been set aside to settle in at the beginning to ask questions, and for discussions with your fellow writers at the end. 

The Tŷ Newydd taster courses series will offer a whistle-stop tour of various genres and themes in both English and Welsh, to continue to inspire your writing during the winter months. Participant numbers for each taster course will be capped at 20, and the course will be delivered through the video platform Zoom. We hope to welcome you to Tŷ Newydd Writing Centre when we reopen our doors in the spring, where we offer a programme of day-long, weekend and week-long residential courses at our beautiful house in Llanystumdwy. 

The course will run between 12.00 – 1.30 pm.
