Bursaries Panel: Call-out for applications for new Panel members

Literature Wales is inviting applications for three new members to join its Bursaries Panel, to assess applications for its Writers’ Bursaries and Mentoring Scheme and award funding.

Literature Wales Writers’ Bursaries and the Mentoring Scheme are core Writer Development activities which offer opportunities for early career writers to develop their creative and professional development. Our focus will be on talent-spotting and developing early career writer – offering the right support at the right time, and to enable and nurture a culture of risk-taking and artistic innovation.

We are looking for people who want to contribute positively to talent spotting, and developing the creative and professional potential of early career writers in Wales.

The portfolio of skills and expertise required for the role include an overview of the literary scene in Wales; knowledge of the publishing industry and writing in Wales, experience of reading and assessing manuscripts, critical judgement; and expertise in contemporary writing in Wales, in English and/or Welsh. Knowledge of / expertise in at least two of the following genres is required: poetry; prose; creative non-fiction; literary criticism; children’s literature; young adult fiction; graphic novels.

An annual fee is payable for this role. New members of the Bursaries Panel are expected to take up the role from 1 September 2019.
