January Opportunities
This January, organisations across the UK are looking outwards for emergent and established literary talent, as well as innovative responses from the sector. Here we have a collection of some fast approaching deadlines for various competitions, awards and prizes. Hometown Tales Wales – 14th January
For compelling stories that explore the theme of home and what it means to live and belong in the UK today. Fiction/ Non-Fiction
Keats-Shelley Award – 15th January
For adults (over 18) to write poems and essays that respond creatively to the work of the Romantics. Poetry/ Critical Writing
Young Romantics Award – 15th January
16-18 year olds are invited to write a poem on Liberty; or an essay, on any aspect of the work or lives of the Romantics and their circles. Poetry/ Critical Writing
Terry Hetherington Young Writers Award – 31st January
18-30 year olds invited to submit 1-3 poems or a piece of fiction up to a maximum of 2500 words on any subject. Poetry/ Fiction
British Book Award 2018 – 9th February
Multiple categories for all aspects of Publishing. All genres
Rubery Book Award – 31st March
Book Award for independent and self-published titles. All genres
Carnegie Library Lab – 3th April
For innovative ideas that library staff would like to implement or develop in their library, who have a commitment to self-development and collaborative working.
