Matthew PlumbBorn in Newport in1978, Plumb was raised in Abergavenny, educated at King Henry VIII Comprehensive School, and the Universities of Plymouth and Exeter where he read BSc Hons Politics and Ma Public Administration respectively. Plumb divides his time between Devon and Monmouthshire as a journeyman forester and has a mobile operation in the form of a yurt, which he refers to as “Deluxe Digs”.

Plumb is a potent and charismatic performer, choosing to “take it to the people…raw, grip it and rip it stylee”, and has performed at festivals, most notably Glastonbury Festival, Aeon Festival, and the Hay-on-Wye Festival of Literature. Plumb is the founder of Poetry Pulse, a democratic, on-line poetry competition, and fledgling publishing house with designs on producing poetry as actual pieces of art, as gifts.

There is no other achievement Plumb considers greater than his work with the Creative Partnership in Cornwall, best expressed in his own words. “I took it [poetry] to those kids in Newquay Tretherras and they ripped through it, they ate it, everything I produced, the audio, the text, and the stuff I had in store, just in case they were on it. They were on it. You should have seen them perform their own stuff from the exercise I gave them! I only gave them ten minutes! The youth is bold…and on fire. Awesome.”

Plumb has published his ‘Ode’ which was accepted by the Museum of Everything (prior to publication) Exhibition #2, at the Tate Modern, and is currently working on producing a short collection of verse set to dub step, believing the album to be the most relevant format to convey poetry in the 21st century.
