WILLIAMS, NERYS

Nerys WilliamsOriginally from Pen-y-Bont, Carmarthen, Nerys worked as a Sound Librarian at BBC Wales and has also been employed in psychiatric nursing. She is a recipient of a Fulbright Scholar's Award at UC Berkeley and a recent winner of the Ted McNulty Poetry Prize. She gained a DPhil at Sussex (2002) through research focused on a reading of error and the lyric in the poetry of Charles Bernstein, Lyn Hejinian and Michael Palmer. Nerys now lectures in American Literature at University College, Dublin.
 
Nerys has published poems, critical essays widely and is the author of A Guide to Contemporary Poetry (Edinburgh University Press, 2011) as well as study of contemporary American poetry, Reading Error (Peter Lang, 2007). She recently published her original first collection of poetry Sound Archive (2011) with Seren. Sound Archive was shortlisted for the Felix Dennis (Forward) Best First Volume Prize in 2011. Nerys is a native Welsh speaker and a Member of The Welsh Academy.
