MONGER, CHRIS

Chris MongerChris was born in Taffs Well in 1950. He is an award winning screenwriter, director and editor. Chris attended the Chelsea School of Art, London, where he won the Bidduph Scholarship for painting. During this time he started making films. After graduating he returned to Wales and was a founding member of the Chapter Film Workshop. Monger made no-budget features there including 'Voice Over' (1981). Following the global success of this project he moved to Los Angeles.

Chris’ most famous screenplay 'The Englishman Who Went Up a Hill But Came Down a Mountain' was published as a novel by Corgi in 1995. He has directed eight feature films and written over thirty screenplays including the HBO biopic 'Temple Grandin' and 'Seeing Red' for Granada. Chris has also produced several documentaries and films, and adapted other works for screenplay (most recently Jonathan's Harr's The Lost Painting for Miramax Films).
