KAMARA, ALHAJI SHEKU
Alhaji grew up in Liberia and Sierra Leone and now lives in Swansea. He currently manages Swansea World Stars football team, and occasionally acts with Swansea theatre groups. His poetry has appeared in Hafan Books anthologies, and he has recently published his first solo collection. Entitled Peace (Hafan Books, 2009), Alhaji's performative poetry exposes racism in Wales, with artwork by Mary Hayman and an afterword by Tom Cheesman and Sylvie Hoffmann. His poems are in African (creole-) accented rap / spoken word style, generally about his everyday life; alternating between contemporary social and political topics and sexy love lyrics.
