Critic and literary historian. Born in Aberystwyth and educated at Bangor University, where he is now a lecturer in the Welsh Department. His main areas of research are Welsh poetry from the Middle Ages and the twentieth century, Anglo-Welsh literature – R.S Thomas’ work in particular – and translation. Much of his work explores the relationship between the two literatures of Wales. Winner of the Crown at the National Eisteddfod in Newport 2004 for his poem ’Egni’.
