WESTON, SIMON
Simon Weston OBE is a former British soldier who became well known throughout the UK after suffering severe injuries during the Falklands War. He was born in Nelson, Caerphilly and joined the Welsh Guards at the age of 16. After recovering from his initial injuries, he has worked tirelessly for different charities which has made him a well known celebrity. Simon has recently started writing children’s books, and has also published a number of novels and an autobiography. His A Nod from Nelson (Pont, 2008) was short-listed for the 2010 Tir na n-Og English Award.
