EDWARDS, JUSTIN
Justin Edwards is a Professor at the School of English, Bangor University. His research specialism includes all periods of American and Canadian literature, Postcolonial writing, nineteenth and twentieth-century literature and the Gothic. Originally from Toronto, he has taught at the Universities of Montreal, Quebec and Copenhagen. Justin came to Bangor in 2006 via Cambridge, where he held a research fellowship at Churchill College, Cambridge University from 2005 to 2006. His interest in postcolonial studies has grown out of his work on travel writing, and he explores ideas about the place of travel writing in the rhetoric of imperial expansion and colonial ideology in his recently completed book Postcolonial Literature (Palgrave MacMillian, 2008).
Justin’s most recent research projects have focussed on the gothic, and he is currently working on a book that examines the relationship between the gothic and the law in the early U.S. republic. As well as his own titles, Justin is widely published in anthologies and journals alike including the Journal of Urban History, Studies in Canadian Literature and Ariel: A Journal of International English Literature. In 2006 he was on the Advisory Board for Studies in Canadian Literature.
