LILLEY, GEORGE

George studied for his MA at Oxford, gained his PhD at the University of Wales and achieved a University of London Diploma in Librarianship. He was Librarian of the University of Wales, Lampeter, 1976-1996, and is now Senior Research Fellow in Bibliography there. His research interests are in bibliography and in the modern history of publishing and the profession of authorship. George edited the Proceedings of the Anthony Powell Society’s biennial conferences held in 2001 and 2003. He has been active as a reviewer of bibliographical and reference works for journals in library and information studies. George was Library Consultant to the University of Reading Museum of English Rural Life in 1998-99, and was a Mellon Visiting Research Fellow at the Harry Ransom Humanities Research Center, University of Texas at Austin in 2004.
