Motion Picture & Television Producer, Writer, Director and Executive. Among the major positions Herb has held in Hollywood and New York City are Studio Head & Vice President of Worldwide Motion Pictures and Television Production at MGM; Vice President of Television Production at Paramount Pictures; Studio Head & Vice President of Production at Desilu Studios; Vice President of  Dramatic Film Production at Hanna-Barbara Productions, Director of Network Daytime Programs at NBC; Director of Network Daytime Programs at CBS; Head of Production of the NBC Film Division and Theatrical Agent at the William Morris Agency.

Herb received his B. A. degree in American Literature and Drama from Dartmouth College.

During his tenure at MGM and as an independent producer, he was responsible for major theatrical motion pictures directed by David Lean, Blake Edwards, Robert Altman, Paul Mazurski, Michelangelo Antonioni, Herbert Ross, Brian Hutton, Ken Russell, Roger Vadim, Mike Hodges, Burt Kennedy, Richard Loncraine, Dan Curtis, Stuart Hagman and Richard Colla among others.

During his activity in filmed television, Herb developed, sold and Executive Produced such series as (the original) Star Trek, Mission: Impossible, Mannix, Then Came Bronson, Medical Center, The Courtship of Eddie’s Father, Man From Atlantis, (which he also co-created), The Silent Service, Boots and Saddles (which he also co-created), Flight, The Blue Angels, Danger Is My Business and Union Pacific among others.

He also developed and produced or wrote the films Elvis:That’s The Way It Is, Saving Grace, Killdozer, Climb An Angry Mountain, Heatwave, Brimstone & Treacle, Get Crazy, The Courageous and Inside Star Trek:The Real Story (video) among others.

During his activity in live television, Herb developed the series Let’s Make A Deal and You Don’t Say and was in charge of the production of The Brighter Day, Truth Or Consequences, The Verdict Is Yours, Surprise Package and Video Village among others.

Herb is a member of the Writers’ Guild of America, the Directors’ Guild of America and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Currently he is an Independent Producer and Honorary Visiting Research Fellow at the University of Wales, Lampeter.
