CHARNELL-WHITE, CATHRYN A.
Cathryn is a Research Fellow at the University of Wales Centre for Advanced Welsh and Celtic Studies. Her research interests encompass Welsh literature of the eighteenth century and Welsh women poets of the early modern period.
She was born and bred in Caerffili. She moved to Aberystwyth to read Welsh and gained a B.A. and Ph.D. from the Department of Welsh, Aberystwyth. Her doctoral thesis examined eschatological themes: ‘Y Pedwar Peth Diwethaf – Marwolaeth, Nefoedd, Uffern a’r Farn – yn llenyddiaeth Gymraeg y Ddeunawfed Ganrif’ (The Four Last Things – Death, Heaven, Hell and Judgement – in Welsh Literature of the Eighteenth Century). She has lectured on the eighteenth century, women’s poetry and contemporary literature at the Departments of Welsh at the Univeristy of Wales, Aberystwyth (1998-1999) and Lampeter (2000-2002). Cathryn is also a member of the editorial board of Llên Cymru and the committee of Honno Welsh Women’s Press.
