JONES, CYNAN
Cynan Jones was born near Aberaeron in 1975, where he now lives and works. His first novel The Long Dry (Parthian, 2006) went on to win a Betty Trask Award from the Society of Authors, and saw him nominated as the Hay Festival Scritture Giovani 2008.
The Long Dry has since been translated into Italian, Arabic and most recently French under the title Longue Secheresse. The translation was excellently received by the French press, with the broadsheet Le Monde hailing it a "…book of moving beauty…", and the magazines Le Figaro, Madame and L’avenir Agricole all heaping it with praise.
Cynan's second novel, unpublished in English, has been translated into Italian, "Le cose che non vogliamo piu", to further critical acclaim. His latest novel Everything I Found on the Beach was published by Parthian in June 2011. Cynan is a Member of Academi.

The Long Dry (Parthian, 2006)
An intense novel of startling imagery, told in an elegiac tone. The narrative is based around a farmer’s day-long hunt for a missing cow. What follows however is a search through memory, and anxiety about losing what he has.
