Born in North Wales, Dei travelled to many countries as a young Merchant Seaman and in the Parachute Regiment, with later service with other Special Forces in different parts of the world. He is a sculptor, and has brought out two collections of poetry. He is a practising psychotherapist and shamanic healer.
