Writer, Artist, and Actress. Born in Cardiff, Carole has returned after years of travel, to her childhood home in the Upper Swansea Valley. Winner of Vogue’s Writers’ Contest, Carole has written novels, short stories, poems, and screenplays. Cardiff College of Art was followed by a Teachers’ Certificate and an M.A. in Creative Writing from the University of Wales, Cardiff.
World-wide travel as her sister, Mary’s, manager preceded a ten-year stay in America where Carole worked as an itinerant portrait painter of homes and gardens. Her second novel, The Love of Strangers (Gofannon Press) documents this time.
As a member of the British Actors Equity Carole joined the Welsh Drama Company and performed in many radio, television, and West End productions. Her family’s long friendship with the artist Joseph Herman has culminated in her becoming a director of the Joseph Herman Arts Foundation Cymru. She is also a trustee of the Llangiwg Community Association who are restoring a C5th religious site in the Swansea Valley.
Her biography of her photographer grandfather, Llew E. Morgan, Full Circle (Gomer 1997) has led to lectures and exhibitions. Part of his vintage collection (see website) will be on display at the Smithsonian Institute, Washington, U.S.A. in 2009.
An Associate Tutor at the University of Wales, Swansea, Carole teaches Creative Writing, Literature, and Art. Her stories and poems have appeared in The New Welsh Review, Acumen, Iron, Orbis, and Keltica.
