Professional storyteller. Born in Cwmbran in 1964, Daniel studied English and Drama at the University of London. He has been a teller of traditional stories since 1990, having travelled the globe visiting arts centres, theatres, libraries, museums and festivals worldwide. Daniel has told Welsh tales in St Donat’s and at St David’s, from the Arctic to the Pacific to the Caribbean.
His first book, Weird Tales from the Storyteller, was published by Pont Books in November 2003. Delighted with his first publication, he said "I wanted to write the kind of book I would have loved to read when I was young. I loved books where I was laughing and shuddering by turns." Daniel won the English language Tir na n-Og prize in 2007 for Dark Tales from the Woods (Gomer, 2005).
He regularly visits schools, libraries, museums and theatres with programmes of traditional stories ranging from nursery tales to Welsh myths, ghost stories to the Odyssey. His stories are broadcast regularly on BBC Radio Wales and BBC Choice TV. Daniel is a Writer on Tour with Academi.
